One of the greats from the 80s
The Cult live, I had never seen, so I was excited to check them out -- even if it was well after their "prime". My first glimpse of them was on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, and I was blown away. Playing crunching metal in the days of techno pop, who were these guys? Great was The Wiltern show -- they played "Electric" all the way through, and then treated us with several cuts from their fairly extensive catalog. Cocky is still Ian Astbury, but his voice has weathered the storms pretty well. That guy can play guitar was the biggest surprise for me, Billy Duffy. Fun were his Townshend windmills. I heard the tore the roof off the House of Blues the next night, while I couldn't make it. Only complaint -- No Heart of Soul. Pure "Nirvana" was everything else.
